Dog Placed In Rabies Quarantine
After Biting Toddler

Rockingham County, NC -- A toddler had to get stitches after a chained dog bit the child across the shoulder and face.

Rockingham County Sheriff's Office says they were called to Morehead Hospital after a 15-month-old was brought in with wounds from a dog bite.

Investigators say the dog, a mixed breed, was on a chain, but managed to reach and bite the child across the shoulder, jaw and nose.

Michael Smith, 42, who lives with the child's grandmother, was cited for not having his dog vaccinated.

The dog was placed in rabies quarantine at Reidsville Veterinarian Hospital.
