A 7-year-old girl bitten by a pit-bull/boxer mix Thursday is expected to recover from her injuries, according to the dog's owner, Latasha Kohler, a friend of the injured girl's family.

Kohler told the Star-Banner the victim had two puncture wounds in her back and received three stitches. She said the girl was doing fine and would be re-evaluated Saturday.

Kohler said she took the dog, Bobo, to the Animal Center, where he will be quarantined for 10 days then will be euthanized.

She requested that the dog, who has been with her since he was 9-months-old, be put down because the girl was the fourth person bitten by him.

According to a Sheriff's Office report, a deputy responded to Children's Express Care in reference to a child bitten by a dog. The child's mother told the official she and her daughter went to visit Kohler at her Northwest Ocala home. The woman said her daughter and other children were riding bicycles in the roadway when the dog broke his chain and attacked the little girl.

Kohler told a deputy the dog is easily agitated by noise and movement, especially anything with tires. Because of that, she secured him with a heavy duty chain, thinking he wouldn't break it.
