FULTON, MO. -- A 12-year old boy is recovering after he was bitten by a Pit Bull Friday afternoon.

The boy was walking home from school on E. Chestnut St.in Fulton when the dog came from behind and bit him on the back of his thigh.

The Fulton Police Department said the dog left at least two significant wounds.

The child was taken to Callaway County Community Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police said the dog had gotten free from a chain in the yard and attacked the boy.

The dog’s owner, Lacie McDonald of Fulton was cited for Animal Running at Large as per city ordinance.

The dog was euthanized this morning by a local vet due to it’s aggressive behavior.

Samples will be sent to the State Health Laboratory for analysis for rabies.
