Tampa, FL. —A two-year-old Tampa girl is in serious condition after being attacked by a large dog.

Hillsborough County Sherif's deputies say the St. Bernard-Bull Mastiff mix somehow escaped from a chain and bit Mia Kingsman on her head as she played in her yard at 11820 North Armenia Avenue in Tampa.

Investigators say the dog belongs to David Arthur, a friend of Mia's family , but was not on the scene when his dog attacked.

Arthur was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license and was cited for letting his dog's tags expire.

The dog was taken into custody by Hillsborough Animal Services.

The injured child is being treated at Tampa General Hospital.
