Volusia County-- A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was attacked by a dog on Tuesday. It happened at a home daycare center off Yellowbird Avenue in Deltona.
Parents like Mark Toney showed up worried to the home where his kids were Tuesday afternoon. “I don’t know whats going on I just got pulled off of work to see what’s going on,” said Toney.
He soon found out his 4-year old nephew was bitten by the daycare owners dog in the back yard.

Animal control arrived quickly. The dog, a lab-mix seen, was taken away.
According to Tone'ys kids, Connor and Jeremy, their 4-year-old cousin was playing with the dog."Bear the dog, the big dog who's mean… he was like scratching him and then he probably just bit him on the head or something.”:
Volusia County Sheriff deputies said the owner of the daycare is Sherry Webster. They say she keeps two large dogs in the backyard, the lab-mix and a boxer-mix. They say the lab-mix was chained when he attacked the toddler.
“I guess the dog I dont know it was a freak accident.. he just lashed out at Landon.. he'd never done that before,” said Toney.
Sherry Webster only had one thing to say to our cameras, “I love him like he’s my own and I'm sorry. I just need to go.”
Sherry Webster’s daycare is registered with the state of Florida as Webster Family Child Care Home. The state of Florida allows daycare facilities to have dogs on their property in most cases.

DELTONA-- A home day care center where a boy was bitten by a dog reopened Tuesday.
Ms. Sherri's Child Care was able to reopen after completing a safety plan.
The plan calls for day care owner Sherri Watson to cover electrical outlets in the home, remove the dog that bit the child, and replace broken toys.
Landon Sage, 4, was bitten by a Labrador-pit bull mix Nov. 11.
The boy is expected to recover.
The boy's father has said the day care has been taking care of his son for years, and he will likely return now that it is back open.

Monday, Webster fought back tears as she talked about what happened.
“I just want people to know that I am not the bad daycare provider,” Webster said. “That I’m being portrayed as being.”
The city discovered several code violations on the property after the dog-bite incident. Webster said she's addressed all of them.
“We picked up all the toys and basically that was it,” Webster said while giving a tour of the backyard. “There were a few things on the side of the shed that we had throw away and that was it.”
Monday she was also back to taking care of children. The dog that bit the boy is still with animal services, but one dog, a large Boxer mix remains. Webster said there is now one big difference from last week to this.
“I will never allow another animal to be around other children,” she said. “He is in a fenced area. He cannot get out and the gate is locked.”
But she was still at a loss to explain exactly what happened last week.
“They have never been aggressive dogs, ever,” Webster said. “If I ever thought that any of my dogs were aggressive I would never have had them here.”
