Dillion Allen's Photos, Story:

Hello, My name is Sabrina Allen, a stay-at-home mother of 3 boys. I came across your website when I was doing research on dog attacks especially pit bulls. Me and my husband have been married for 6 years now and we have lived in a little town called Muldrow until recently moving to the next town over, Sallisaw.

Our 2 year old son, Dillion Allen was badly attacked by a pit bull, that was on a chain, on November the 2th of 2005.

We lived in a house that we rented for almost 2 years, during that 2 years, we had learned that our neighbors were not good people. We feared for our lives and for our children's lifes. The place we called home was a place we had to fear going to because of the neighbors.

On November the 2nd, of 2005, I was at home with our 3 boys. My husband was at work. We only had 1 car and NO phone. We had been approved to buy a house and were finally going to get away from the nightmare of living at that house. That morning I started packing boxes up, and it was about noon time, my mom came by and visited for about an hour, then I went back  to packing boxes. After I got about 60 boxes packed, I decided that I would carry the boxes outside, so that it would be easier to load them up in my husband's dad's truck after my husband got home from work. I packed some small boxes because I knew it would give the boys something to do and they would love to help carry the boxes outside for me. In the middle of moving boxes, Dillion completely stopped helping me and decided to go play in the dirt. The other 2 boys started asking for something to drink. I went in the house and poured them all 3 something to drink, which only took a few seconds. I went back outside to give Dillion his drink and he wasn't in the same spot, so I started yelling for him and the only thing that I heard was the neighbors dogs barking so I thought that maybe he was headed toward the highway. I started running down the dirt road toward the highway and didn't see Dillion on the road. I get in front of the neighbors house and looked in their yard and seen their pit bull throwing Dillion around and Dillion wasn't saying anything or crying, he was covered with blood and you couldn't even tell that he was a baby. I grabbed him and had to tug-a-war him away from the dog. He was still breathing but I thought he was going to die in my arms. His clothes was ripped to pieces, he only had 1 shoe on. Every time I looked at him I saw a deeper and worse cut. Our neighbors on the other side of the house were home so I yelled for help. Finally my cousin and her mom took us to the police station in town (we lived about 5 miles in the country).

At the police station there was 2 sheriffs that were about to leave so we yelled at them and told them that we had a baby hurt. When they looked at him, they said call a ambulance, then they said forget a ambulance, get in the truck. They drove me and Dillion about 90 m.p.h. to the nearest hospital, (which was in the next state over!) I sang nursery rhymes to Dillion all the way to the hospital. At the hospital, they cleaned him up a little bit and  done a CAT scan. The CAT scan had revealed that he had a fracture skull, along with both of his (?) almost being ripped off. His face was so messed up especially around his eyes, we didn't even know if he would be able to see again. The doctors there told us that Dillion had about a 10% chance to live, which was the hardest thing to hear plus they said he had to go to the childrens hospital in Tulsa (about 150 miles away) by helicopter. Seeing Dillion being air lifted and not being able to go with him was so hard. We had to drive to the hospital, it was St. Francis hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, its a wonderful hospital. We didn't get there until about 5 hours later then Dillion did. We had to borrow money for gas and get the other 2 boys to their grandparents house.

Dillion went into surgery as soon as he got there and it took 16 hours of surgery to sew him up. They put over 1500 stitches in him mostly all in his face, some in his neck, right arm and leg. He got though surgery real well and recovered slowly but we are so thankful he is alive and with us today. We had to make the hospital our home for almost 2 weeks. Dillion couldn't open his eyes until a few days before Christmas, and that was so exciting. He made us so happy. I know he had to have angels with him the whole time, its a miracle that he is alive beating that 10% chance.

What that dog did to him will be with us for a lifetime. It affected our whole family. My husband lost his job and our van that we were paying on got repossessed, our electric and water got shut off. We finally got our electric back on. The house that we got approved for to buy is being foreclosed on now. We haven't been able to get caught back up on stuff. The neighbors didn't have homeowners insurance so we are stuck with the $75,000 ++ Medical bills.

Just because 1 dog attacked and almost killed our son, we lost our house, our only car, and almost lost our son. It took $590 just to get our electric back on but we still haven't got our water back on yet. Dillion has been having to go back up to Tulsa almost every week, and that is eating us up in gas.

The crazy thing is that the same dog broke its chain and knocked the boys down for a petting just a few weeks before he almost killed Dillion.

Sincerely,
Sabrina Allen
