Girl
in hospital after dog bite
Diamond Spencer was in fair condition Monday evening at Children's Hospital, according to a hospital spokesperson. The dog was chained at the home of Evelyn and Ray Adamson of 312 Tollgate Run Road, Waynesburg, and apparently the girl approached it when the rottweiler bit her on the cheek, according to Chris Ryder of the state Department of Agriculture, which handles all dog law violations. The dog was taken to an animal hospital and destroyed. It is being tested for rabies, Ryder said. John C. Thomas, Greene County dog warden, is investigating the incident to determine if any charges should be filed. A call to the Adamsons' home was not returned. "The message here is that children should always be accompanied by an adult when approaching a dog they don't know. And it's always a good idea to ask the owner if you may pet the animal," Ryder said. |
