Dog
owner gets seven citations after boy bitten
Ron Carpenter was issued two dangerous animal citations, three no city registration citations, one animal at-large citation and one citation for exceeding the maximum number of dogs allowed, according to Humane Society Animal Control Officer Amy Lowe. Ambulances responded to 203 10th Ave. S.W. Sunday, after the 2-year-old's parents and Carpenter's neighbors, Heather and Albert Holmes, reported that Carpenter's 90-pound chow dog bit into their son's shoulder and dragged him over to the other dog, a 50-pound husky. The boy was taken to the emergency room at Benefis East for treatment. Albert Holmes said that he turned around for what couldn't have been more than 15 seconds and saw that the chow had allegedly entered his yard and picked up his son, dragging it over to Carpenter's yard. Lowe said the husky was chained up, but the chow was dragging its chain. "The chow and the husky both bit the boy," Lowe said. "That's vicious behavior." Holmes said that his son is doing better. The dogs bit through muscle in the boy's shoulder, but didn't cause any nerve damage. |
